The Abertillery Orpheus Male Choir offers men who enjoy singing a friendly and collabrative environment to sing and share choral music making. It also offers the opportunity to perform in a range of venues both across the UK and overseas.

Abertillery Orpheus Male Choir (AOMC) was founded in 1908 and was mainly made up of members from local church choirs who in turn, were employed in the local coal mines. Over 115 years later the choir continues to represent and enhance the reputation of Abertillery and Wales through their musical, social and civic endeavours.

Belonging to a Male Voice Choir and singing with others provides a social and emotional support system where you can feel valued and part of a team. It also encourages healthier behaviour patterns and has a positive influence on your wellbeing in terms of your overall physical and mental health.

In 2017 the choir represented Wales at the 'Festival Interceltique de Lorient' in France while in 2018 the choir performed at the Festival of Welsh Choirs at the Royal Albert Hall. During 2024, in addition to local civic concerts and a number of joint choir concerts, the choir also undertook a successful tour of Germany.
During 2025 the choir has participated in two Centenary celebration events, one at Six Bells Park and the other at the Newbridge Memo. We also returned to Hinckley, Leicestershire, for a sold-out concert with Burbage Harmonic Voices. In 2025 we also appointed an Assistant Musical Director in Glyn Williams, and our choir secretary was elected General Secretary of the Welsh Association of Male Choirs .
Plans for 2026 include a five day trip to Scotland to take part in a joint concert with The Aolian Male Voice Choir in Kilmarnock, a charity concert to mark the 60th Anniversary of the Aberfan Disaster and a potential trip to Weymouth for an RNLI Charity Concert.
We love to hear from men who want to learn to sing or who already sing and want to join a Male Voice choir. Talk to us after one of our performances or come along to one of our Tuesday evening (6.45pm - 9.00pm) rehearsal at:
